The Downtown Yakima Mile is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2020. Runners of all ages and abilities will take over Yakima Avenue beginning at 5:30 p.m. that day to race their fastest mile from start to finish on one of the city’s busiest streets.
The Downtown Yakima Mile, which benefits the Yakima School District, is a timed one-mile race that opens a 14-block gradual downhill stretch of Yakima Avenue to runners of all ages and abilities. The event features 11 heats -- from elite athletes to tiny tots -- with more than $25,000 in prizes for elite milers. The race will begin on Yakima Avenue just east of 16th Avenue and will end in the shadow of the Larson Building, downtown Yakima’s historic Art Deco building.
