The Downtown Yakima Mile is back: mark your calendars for Saturday, July 2nd, 2022.

 

The Downtown Yakima Mile, which benefits the YWCA Yakima, is a timed one-mile race that follows a 14-block gradual downhill stretch of Yakima Avenue. The race will begin on Yakima Avenue just east of 16th Avenue and will end in the shadow of the Larson Building, downtown Yakima’s historic Art Deco building. The DYM is open to participants of all ages and abilities. The event features 11 heats -- from elite athletes to tiny tots -- with $50,000 in prize money to be won by elite runners and everyday runners alike.

Runners interested in applying for entry into an elite race shall:
 

  1. Register for the open race.
     

  2. Email your application to the Elite Athlete Relations Coordinator to "apply" for the elite race.
     

  3. You will be notified if you have been accepted into the elite race.
